August 10, 2004. Driven by the needs of television studios to share video footage between databases around the world, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) released its Material eXchange Format (MXF) as the new standard.
MXF was introduced by SONY and developed by the Motion Picture Experts Group (MPEG), an international standards organization.
MXF is about to have a drastic impact on the information landscape. Fully compatible with MXF, Thrummer Video Dynamic’s proprietary metadata solution lets the most out-dated systems leap-frog up to the most current standards for metadata.
